Founded by Lucio Gomiero in 1980, the farm Vignalta is one of the most interesting productive realities of the Euganean Hills. Since 1994 it processes the grapes produced in the heart of the Euganean Hills, in the new cellar of Arquà Petrarca fully carved in the rock. A very beautiful environment to look at, but also fitted with excellent technical features that allow the best wine aging in oak barrels. The company has a tasting room with store located in Luvigliano di Torreglia, near Villa dei Vescovi (a XVI century building open to visitors, work of G.M. Falconetto and Andrea della Valle and decorated inside by the Dutch painter Lambert Sustris). Tasting room hours: Tuesday to Saturday from 10.30 to 12.30 and 15-19 (tel. 049 9933105). By appointment you can also visit the production winery at Arquà Petrarca and possibly taste and buy wines (for times and appointments call No. 049 777 305)
In the 55 hectares of vines, Vignalta produces various types of grapes (Moscato white, yellow Moscato Fior d'Arancio, Pinot Blanc, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Muscat black, Petit Syrah). Among the 300 000 bottles a year, the lion's share - in a qualitative sense - is carried out by the Gemola, a blend of Merlot (70%) and Cabernet Franc (30%) accustomed to accolades. Among the most significant, the Tre Bicchieri in the Gambero Rosso in the years '95, '97, '98, '99, 2000 and 2001.
« Our main goal is to spread the culture of good wine, to convey the origin of our wines, the importance of our territory. It is the passion that drives us». Lucio explains the success of the wines Vignalta, which are not only the result of dedication and competence, but also of a natural environment particularly propitious. The Euganean Hills (of volcanic origin) offer to winegrowers a quality of soil particularly rich in mineral sediments. In addition, there is a mild climate that still shows a good temperature, such as to make unique the grapes produced.
« We are sure of the quality of our wines - adds Lucio - but not asking for an act of faith, we prefer to invite our customers to taste before judging». An invitation that you should collect all the times you spend here.
